Purple Star Schools
The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation's military. The following schools have the Purple Start designation:

Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission:
The Compact addresses key educational transition issues encountered by military families including enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation. For more information, visit their website at www.mic3.net.
Children of active duty members of the uniformed services, National Guard and Reserve on active duty orders, and members or veterans who are medically discharged or retired for one year are eligible for assistance under the Compact.
Tutor.com:
All K-12 children in National Guard, Reserve and Active Duty Military families are eligible to receive one-to-one academic support 24/7 in math, science, English, and more, regardless of the service member's branch or deployment status.
SchoolQuest:
A free, online tool that helps parents of military-connected children to prepare for the frequent school moves and other unique stressors of a military lifestyle that could adversely affect their academic success.
Military OneSource:
Offers peer-to-peer support for military members and their spouses. Peer-to-peer consultations are free, confidential, and relaxed conversations to provide support on the stresses and challenges of military life. All consultants have master's degrees in psychology or in a social science field and have firsthand experience of military life.
Real Warriors Campaign:
A multimedia public awareness campaign designed to encourage help-seeking behavior among service members, veterans and military families coping with invisible wounds.
Battle Buddies
Battle Buddies are trained veteran volunteers who provide immediate, compassionate support to fellow veterans facing mental health challenges, including suicidal thoughts. When a veteran is in crisis, a Battle Buddy can be dispatched to meet them in person, offering peer-to-peer assistance grounded in shared military experience. This direct, empathetic approach helps break through isolation, fosters trust, and connects veterans to essential resources, ensuring no one has to face their struggles alone.
Ohio Department of Education and Workforce:
Offers educational information and resources for military-connected youth as well as licensing and school employment opportunities for veterans, service members, and their spouses.
