In the fall of 2019, over 1.5 million junior students took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, otherwise known as the PSAT/NMSQT, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Last spring, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation identified the top 16,000 students or the top 1% in the country who scored the highest on the 2019 PSAT. These students were identified as National Merit Semifinalists. They then moved on to compete in a very rigorous application process, contending to be named as a National Merit Finalist, thus opening the door to scholarship opportunities. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently identified approximately 15,000 National Merit Finalists. The selection of some 7,500 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of 15,000 is now in progress, and scholarship winners will be notified later this spring. Congratulations to William Pickrell for recently being named as a National Merit Finalist! This is an extraordinary achievement, and we are T-Bolt Proud!
